What is Your Aim?

It is now 2014! A year has passed, and we start this new year. When you get up in the morning, thinking ahead for this new year, What do you say to yourself about your hopes for this year? or maybe for the day? When we look from beginning of each day till the end of each day, what do we want to happen because we have lived?

Some people might be so clueless about this, they don’t even think about it. They just get up each day, and do what they have to do - no goal. God means for us to aim consciously at something significant in our days. God’s revealed will for us is that when we get up in the morning, we don’t drift aimlessly through the day letting mere circumstances alone dictate what we do, but that we aim at something — that we focus on a certain kind of purpose.

Aimlessness is a kind of lifelessness. Dead leaves in the back yard may move anywhere where the wind blows - they are full of motion but empty on life.

God creates things with purpose (Gen 1:27-31). He creates us human with a purpose! God creates man in His own image. We are His image: meaning we are to act like Him. Our action, motives, and will is supposed to be like Him, or like what God likes. Our purpose has to be God’s purpose. God then gave His command to man and woman to do our role as God’s image to: be fruitful and be multiplied and fill the earth and subdue and have dominion. As a God’s image this is our role to be His representative on this earth, to be His ambassador for God’s kingdom.

So what is your aim for this year? By God's grace, how do you train yourself to be more like Christ?

“24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching” Hebrews 10:24-25
